Drag the coil right through the uniform field region. The graphs show how flux linkage and induced EMF change as the coil enters, passes through, and exits the field.
Tick Calculation mode to reveal parameter sliders and quantitative axis values.
Drag the conducting bar along the diverging rails. As the bar moves, the enclosed area changes, altering the flux linkage and inducing an EMF.
Tick Calculation mode to reveal parameter sliders and quantitative axis values.
A conducting ring sits in a magnetic field that ramps from B0 to Bf. Drag left/right in the field view to scrub through the change. The progress bar at the bottom shows the current time position.
Tick Calculation mode to reveal parameter sliders (B0, Bf, r, Δt, R) and quantitative axis values.
Drag the magnet left and right to move it towards and away from the coil. The display shows the induced poles, current direction, and the force that opposes the magnet's motion (Lenz's Law).
Use the Magnet selector to switch which pole approaches the coil first.
Press Drop Magnet to release the magnet from rest, or drag the magnet downward to scrub through the fall manually. The data logger records the induced EMF as the magnet passes through the coil.
Adjust Drop height and Pole down to explore how these affect the EMF trace. Use the checkboxes to annotate pulse widths and heights.
